Foundation Safety & Rescue Training                  

Course aims – this course aims to provide the paddler with key safety and rescue skills in a sheltered water environment in a variety of craft. The paddler will learn skills which will ensure the safety of themselves and others around them whilst out paddling and will learn appropriate rescue techniques which can be used to help them or others when in difficulty. Did you know, you can also re-do your FSRT to count towards a Coach Update!

White Water Award - Training & Assessment (3 Star WW Kayak)                    

Course aims –  two days on a grade two section of river looking at the foundation skills of white water, breaking in and out, ferry gliding, surfing, basic safety skills and an introduction to the tactics required to run rivers.

Canoe Award - Assessment (3 Star Open Canoe)                                                

Canoe Award - Training and Assessment  (3 Star Open Canoe)                      

Course aims –  A day of training followed by an assessment day in canoe. The training will be run at a Lake looking at open water skills and the assessment run on a slow moving section of river. Across the two days we will look at: wind awareness, use of wind, sailing, controlling a boat in the wind, effecient forwards paddling and a range of strokes. We will also cover moving water skills like breaking in and out, poling and ferry gliding.

Moderate Water Kayak Leader Assessment                              

Course aims –  Final Assessment to achieve the Moderate Water Leader award in kayak, your skills will be observed though a two day assessment with a real group on a grade 2 river with sections of grade 3.

 

 

Pre – requisites: log book, stamped LR form, training confirmation from home nation, wwsr training and minimum 16hr first aid .

British Canoeing Moderate Water Coach Assessment            

Course aims – Final Assessment to achieve the new Moderate Water Coach award from British Canoeing. Your coaching will be assessed with a live group on grade 2/3 water. You would be expected to deliver at least 90 minutes of coaching at the required standard throughout the day.

White Water Safety and Rescue                            

Course aims –  Two days on Grade 2/3 looking at a range of rescue skills and how to avoid using them at all. A very engaging and full on course designed to introduce you to new skills and then use them in a range of robust circumstances. We cover both white water kayak and open canoe rescue skills over the two days.

Course aims –  To build the foundation blocks of paddlesport across at least two disciplines. We run this course across 2 days spending the maximum amount of time on the water. This is run in a sheltered water environment typically our Lake or Canal.

British Canoeing Paddlesport Instructor

Course aims –  Suitable for those having completed the Coach award core training or currently trained or assessed UKCC Level 2 coaches. The coaching skills will be applied into a moderate water environment, looking at decision making, venue choice and mastery driven learning.

Course aims –  during this two day course you will develop your own personal paddling skills on grade 2/3 white water but also learn how to lead and manage a group in this enviroment.

Paddlesport Leader Preperation                    

Course aims –  The Paddlesport Leader is aimed at paddlers who want to take on formal leadership responsibilities in sheltered water environments and aims to support leaders to run safe, quality, enjoyable trips based on their group’s needs and aspirations. This is a great bolt on to the paddlesport instructor qualification as it increases the coaches remit without taking the plunge into the coach training allowing the coach to build up experience before going onto the next level. This course is ran across two days and we aim to do one day on a lake and the second day on the river e.g. Wye.

 

Pre – requisites: hold three star award in one disipline or be of similar standard.
