We are super stoked to announce we have teamed up with Ben May from Kayak Chile to be able to offer the Futaleufu Adventure!

Ben May is the owner of the company Kayak Chile, born in the UK he now lives in a cabin next to the Palguin river and paddles this unique river most days. He is the co-author of the Chile White Water Guide book and has paddled with some of the best paddlers from around the world in a variety of countries.

Futaleufu Adventure:

Day 1 – Land in Santiago Chile then Fly down to Puerto Montt airport (PMC).

We will pick you up from Puerto Montt airport and spend the rest of the day exploring the tourist town of Puerto Varas and the fishing port town of Puerto Montt. We will then board the night ferry to Chaiten Patagonia.

Day 2 - Futaleufu River:

We will arrive in the coastal town of Chaiten where we will have breakfast. We will then drive 3 hours to the magical Futalefu valley, where we will outfit the boats for the trip, have lunch and settle in to our accommodation. During the afternoon we will paddle the Bridge to Macal section, a great introduction to this mighty river. We’ll spend some time working on your whitewater skills before hitting the bigger sections over the next few days.

Day 3 - Futaleufu River:

We will be paddling further afield with the Bridge to Bridge section of the river – with 46 kilometers of whitewater to explore over the week, we’ll get you started with this classic section of Futaleufu whitewater.

Day 4 - Azul River:

We will enjoy the lower volume Azul River with a couple of steeper rapids. The view from this river is always beautiful! (optional Bridge to Bridge run afterwards for those with the energy!)

Day 5 - Futaleufu River:

We will paddle the Terminator section with its 4 big rapids – Terminator, Son of Terminator, Kybers and Himalayas. On the return journey, those that feel up to it can paddle the first half of Bridge to Bridge back to camp.

Day 6 - Futaleufu River:

The start of the 22 kilometers Inferno Canyon section from Futaleufu town. It will be the most demanding day, including monster rapids like Zeta, Dynamite and the Thrown Room.

Day 7 – Bridge to bridge to Macul

On today's Bridge to Bridge runs we will get out further down (next to Aniol's house) to include the larger rapids of Mas o Menos and Casa de Piedra. After this section you'll understand why Aniol chooses to spend over half the year living on this stretch of water!

Day 8 - Futaleufu River to Barilochex:

We will enjoy a one last paddle on a short Bridge to Bridge run on the Futaleufu River before driving into Argentina to the beautiful town of Bariloche.

Day 9 - Travel day back to Puerto Montt and fly up to Santiago.

Time to pack up and travel back to Puerto Montt for the internal flight to Santiago, before departing that evening on your flight back to the UK.

Day 10 – Arrive back in the UK.

Accommodation:

During your time in Chile we will be staying in fully fitted out cabins, including kitchen, dining room and living area. Rooms will be shared (numbers to be confirmed), however we will always make sure women and men are in separate rooms.

Travelling to Chile:

For our adventure you will need to arrive in Chile on the morning of the 28/01/2023, we would recommend flying into Santiago. Once there you will need to catch a connecting flight to Puerto Montt, which is the closest airport to Futaleufu. Our recommended jounrney is summarised below:

Depart London Heathrow 27/01/2023 - Arrive in Santiago on 28/01/2023 - Connecting flight to Puerto Montt.

For your return to the UK, we recommend booking a flight in the evening on 06/02/2023, and following the same route back as your journey out. Below is a summary of the route:

Evening departure from Puerto Montt on 05/02/2023. Depart Santiago Airport in the afternoon the 06/02/2023 - Arrive in London Heathrow on the morning of 07/02/2023.
