Come join us and Kayak Chile on the mighty Futaleufu River!
Who is this trip aimed at?
We are aiming this trip at paddlers who are comfortable paddling grade 3+ big volume rivers and you should be able to roll but it doesn't need to be consistent. This trip can be physically demanding so a good level of fitness is also needed.
Sample itinerary - Futaleufu Adventure:
Day 1 – Arrival day, land in Santiago Chile then fly down to Puerto Montt airport (PMC).
We will pick you up from Puerto Montt airport and spend the rest of the day exploring the tourist town of Puerto Varas and the fishing port town of Puerto Montt. We will then board the night ferry to Chaiten, Patagonia.
Day 2 - Futaleufu River:
The ferry docks in the coastal town of Chaiten just in time for breakfast before making the 3 hour drive to the magical Futalefu valley, where we can outfit the boats for the trip, have lunch and settle in to our accommodation. During the afternoon we will do a warm up run down one of the easier sections of the river to get used to our kayaks and get a taste of paddling on the mighty Futa.
Day 3 - Futaleufu River:
Azul to Asleep and the wheel + surf session at Macal
Day 4 - Futaleufu River
Puente a Puente
Day 5 - Futaleufu River:
Puente to Casa de Piedra
Day 6 - Futaleufu River:
We will paddle the Terminator section with its 4 big rapids – Terminator, Son of Terminator, Kybers and Himalayas. On the return journey, those that feel up to it can paddle Puente Puente.
Day 7 – Rest day - time to explore Patagonia!
Day 8 - Futaleufu River
Puente a Puente
Day 9 - Futaleufu River
Inferno Canyon
Day 10 – Futaleufu River
Terminator to Casa de Piedra
Day 11 - Futaleufu River
Morning of kayaking on the Futa, then we will head back to camp to pack up and dry kit before driving to Chaiten for the night ferry back to Puerto Montt.
Day 12 - Departure Day
Arrive in Puerto Montt in the morning and drop you off at the airport, for the internal flight to Santiago, before departing that evening on your flight back to the UK.
Safety:
We keep our group sizes small, with a maximum ratio of one guide to four clients, ensuring a more personal experience and greater safety. Your safety is our top priority. Every trip is equipped with a comprehensive group first aid kit, appropriate safety gear, and communication devices for the environment we'll be exploring. All our guides are highly qualified, experienced, and insured, to ensure your trip is safe, enjoyable, and professionally managed in all conditions.
Our expeditions are outfitted with industry-leading safety technology to manage risks in any environment:
-
Satellite Connectivity: We carry Garmin inReach devices on every trip. This allows for real-time GPS tracking and reliable two-way satellite messaging, ensuring we are never truly "off-grid" even when phone signal vanishes.
-
Defibrillator: Rapid response is vital in remote areas. We carry a Portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on all expeditions, with guides trained to provide immediate life-saving intervention if required.
-
Support Vehicle: a dedicated support vehicle is available to provide additional backup, transport, and rapid assistance if required - adding an extra layer of safety and flexibility to your trip.

Accommodation:
During your time in Chile, we will be camping on the banks of the might Futaleufu river at an exclusive private campsite to us. At the campsite there are toilets, hot showers, cooking area with a fully working kitchen and fridge freezer, communal area with fire pit, Starlink wifi and epic views! There is also an area to dry your kit.
We have two person tents, sleeping mats and sleeping bags available for you to use but you're more than welcome to bring your own.
Travelling to Chile:
For our adventure you will need to arrive in Chile on the morning of the 03/02/2026, we would recommend flying into Santiago. Once there you will need to catch a connecting flight to Puerto Montt, which is the closest airport to Futaleufu. Our recommended jounrney is summarised below:
Depart London Heathrow 02/02/2026 - Arrive in Santiago on 03/02/2026 - Connecting flight to Puerto Montt (make sure you leave 3 to 4hrs between landing Santiago and your connecting flight).
For your return to the UK, we recommend booking a flight in the evening from Santiago to UK on 14/02/2026, and following the same route back as your journey out. Below is a summary of the route:
Lunch time departure from Puerto Montt on 14/02/2026, (make sure you leave a minimum of 3 to 4hrs between and your connecting flight). Depart Santiago Airport in the evening of the 14/02/2026 - Arrive in London Heathrow on the morning of 15/02/2026.
