The Paddling:
A twist on our classic! 5 days of paddling but instead of it being in the spring/autumn months we bring you this trip in the SUMMER. An opportunity to push your paddling to the next level on a range of grade 3+/4 whitewater. The trip is going to be a "road trip" style adventure as we will be chasing the water whether that is in the form of rain or dam releases.
We don’t include accommodation on this trip so we can stay flexible about where and when we paddle, making the most of conditions each day. For the first part of the trip (Tuesday to Thursday), we recommend booking accommodation in the Fort William or Spean Bridge area. For the second part (Friday to Saturday), look for options around Perth.
Previous clients have chosen a range of options, including staying in their vans, Airbnbs, hotels, and hostels. Camping is also possible; however, please note that at this time of year midges are common in the evenings, so come prepared if you plan to camp. We’re very happy to provide recommendations and local guidance to help you find the best place to stay.
We aim to paddle as many of the "classic" rivers as we can during this trip and aim for them to be different each day unless the group decides they want to revisit a particular river. Rivers that could be paddled depending on the group and water levels - Etive, Orchy, Spean, Roy, Moriston, Nevis, Findhorn, Garry, Tummel, Lyon.
What’s unique about our trips is that there is much more than just paddling. With our experience and local knowledge collected from the past 10 plus years, you’ll get opportunities on and off the water to see an array of incredible wildlife, historic sights and breathtaking views.
Safety:
We keep our group sizes small, with a maximum ratio of one guide to four clients, ensuring a more personal experience and greater safety. Your safety is our top priority. Every trip is equipped with a comprehensive group first aid kit, appropriate safety gear, and communication devices for the environment we'll be exploring. All our guides are highly qualified, experienced, and insured, to ensure your trip is safe, enjoyable, and professionally managed in all conditions.
Our expeditions are outfitted with industry-leading safety technology to manage risks in any environment:
-
Satellite Connectivity: We carry Garmin inReach devices on every trip. This allows for real-time GPS tracking and reliable two-way satellite messaging, ensuring we are never truly "off-grid" even when phone signal vanishes.
-
Defibrillator: Rapid response is vital in remote areas. We carry a Portable Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on all expeditions, with guides trained to provide immediate life-saving intervention if required.

Accommodation and Food:
Everyone will have their own private room during the trip. You will be sharing the rest of the cottage with the group (max person per cottage four). The cottage has an open plan living room/dining room/kitchen and a bathroom, washing machine, Wi-Fi and a drying area outside for wet kit. Bedding and towels are provided. As with all our adventures we offer this as self-catering, this allows the flexibility to cook communally, individually or head to the pub.
If you’re a couple or friends who don’t mind sharing a room, we can offer a slightly discounted rate for people who want to share a room, please get in contact with us for this pricing info@rapidskills.co.uk
Have peace of mind knowing that your guide has had a good night’s rest as they are also staying in quality accommodation.

Client Reviews
"Had the best week in Scotland. Some of the most professional guiding/ coaching I’ve come across. Great atmosphere on and off the water. Cant wait to paddle with Rapid Skills again!"
"Loved every minute of it, Josh gave us clear simple short instructions at the right time. He then demonstrated that by running the section showing us what he meant. There was no pressure to run sections that were harder."
