Embark on a premium, 11-day fully supported journey centered around an 8-day deep wilderness canoe expedition into the legendary Quetico Provincial Park. This is more than just a paddling trip, it's an immersion into the history of the Canadian fur trade, followed by true wilderness adventure following historical routes through this stunning provincial park.

Working in collaboration with Ollie Sandeman of Sandeman Canoe Company to create an incredible expedition that will offer a true, wilderness experience with far greater solitude than other parks in Ontario. Quetico is internationally renowned as the gold standard of Canadian wilderness canoeing and operates under a strict "wilderness" designation, severely limiting visitor numbers which results in unparalleled solitude and pristine nature with a deep sense of historical travel.

  • History Immersive Start - a visit to Fort William Historical Park (Thunder Bay) to learn the history of the Voyageurs.

  • Backcountry Immersion - 8 days (Sept 3rd–11th) paddling historical routes in the pristine interior of Quetico Provincial Park.

The Itinerary

 

Arrival & Historical Immersion

  • Sept 2nd (Arrival Day): Arrive at Thunder Bay (YBQ). Evening: Meet the guides, trip briefing, and a hearty welcome dinner.

  • Sept 3rd (History Day): Morning visit to Fort William Historical Park. Immerse yourself in the world of the Voyageurs, setting the perfect historical context for the journey ahead. In the afternoon we’ll be collected and transported two hours West to our lodge accomodation for a lovely meal, final preparations and a restful night.

 

The 8-Day Expedition: Quetico Wilderness

  • Sept 4th – 11th (Paddling Days): After breakfast we’ll enter Quetico Provincial Park. Spend 8 full days navigating a historical routes, portages, and Immersing ourselves in pristine wilderness. Enjoy the stunning early-autumn scenery, prime wildlife viewing opportunities (moose, loons, bald eagles, beaver), and expertly prepared meals around the campfire. The route will be challenging yet rewarding, showcasing the deep wilderness only Quetico can offer.

 

Departure & Relaxation

  • Sept 11th (Exit Day): Paddle out of Quetico and return to the comfortable lodge accommodation. Evening: Celebrate the successful expedition with a well-deserved hot meal and immediate access to the sauna for relaxation.

  • Sept 12th (Departure Day): Enjoy a final breakfast. Transfers back to Thunder Bay (YBQ) for onward travel.

For this adventure you will need to arrive in Thunder Bay, Canada on the 2nd September 2026.

Below is a short summary of the journey:

 

Depart London Heathrow 2nd September 2026 - Arrive in Thunder Bay, on 2nd September 2026 – you will need to arrange your own accommodation for the night in Thunder Bay. 

 

Departure flight on 12th September 2026 from Thunder Bay Airport to arrive in London Heathrow on 13th September 2026.

Logistics and What’s Included:

 

What’s Included:

  • All necessary permits and park fees for Quetico Provincial Park.

  • Round-trip transportation between Thunder Bay (YBQ) and the lodge/put-in.

  • Pre- and post-trip lodge accommodation in Quetico (2 nights total).

  • All high-quality expedition gear (canoes, paddles, barrels, safety gear).

  • All meals from Breakfast on Sept 3rd through to breakfast on Sept 12th, including high-quality wilderness food for the 8-day expedition.

  • Guided visit and entry fee to Fort William Historical Park.

  • Expert guiding and instruction from Ollie Sandeman and Josh Telling.

  • Post-trip access to the wood-fired sauna.

  • Advice prior to trip.

  • Photos and Videos from the trip.

 

What You Need to Provide:

  • Flights to/from Thunder Bay (YBQ).

  • Cost to fly any additional baggage.

  • Personal clothing, sleeping bag, tent etc (We’ll provide a kit list)

  • Personal Travel Insurance.

  • Food and Accommodation in Thunder Bay on 2nd September 2026
