Fed up with cold UK winters and unpredictable water levels? Come and join us in Uganda where the water is warm, weather is good and water levels are consistent. It's the ideal location to perfect your high volume river running tactics and freestyle kayaking moves. We have teamed up with a Ben May to offer a trip to Uganda, kayaking down the White Nile. Ben has 5+ years experience working and living in Uganda, helping outdoor adventure companies in the country organise and run coaching sessions/trips as well as coaching and guiding on the river himself.
Who is this trip aimed at?
We are aiming this trip at the intermediate freestyle kayaker, who's comfortable paddling grade 3 and looking to push their paddling in high volume rivers and freestyle kayaking in a warm climate. We advise that you bring your own kayak on this trip and will give you advise on how to get it to Uganda. You can rent a kayak out in Uganda for the trip at an additional cost.

1st Feb - Arrival Day - Day 1
Land in Entebbe airport where we will pick you up in our 4x4 safari van and take the 3-4 hour drive to our lake-side base at Nile River Explorers (NRE), sleeping in dormitories (upgrades to river view tent or private rooms with ensuite bathroom available).
2nd Feb - Day 2
After breakfast at the campsite, there will be time for those who have rented boats to outfit them. Then we will load up the van and head to the river! We’ll paddle the Silverback to Kibibi section, where depending on water levels we might be able to surf the legendary Covid wave. This section will be our morning warm up run for everyone to get used to their boats.
After enjoying our packed lunch back at the car, we’ll drive down to Bubugo rapids. Once we've run one of the channels we’ll spend the afternoon surfing Super Hole Wave.
After returning to NRE Camp we’ll decide as a group whether to eat at one of the local restaurants around the village or head into town.
3rd Feb - Day 3 – Overtime, Retrospect Rapid and Super Hole
After breakfast at the campsite, we’ll load the van and head out to Overtime and Retrospect rapids, where we’ll head down the Overtime waterfall, through the huge waves of Retrospect and see what we can surf.
After this we’ll head down to Superhole and run a different channel but we’ll still stop at the main Superhole feature for some surfing and fun. We'll have lunch here before heading down to portage the top half of Itunda rapid. From there we can either run the Meat or the sneak line of Bad Place, on to the huge waves of the Other Place and then finish the day with a play in the small and friendly Itunda hole.
After returning to NRE camp we’ll decide as a group whether to eat at one of the restaurants around the village or head into town.
4th Feb - Day 4 – Full River Run of the White Nile
Today we do our first full river run from top to bottom, running (and portaging) all the rapids on the mighty White Nile. We’ll stop on the river at some point for a packed lunch. We’ll then paddle all the way down to the Isimba lake where our truck will meet us and take us back to Bujagali where we’re staying. Once again we’ll decide as a group where to eat dinner.
5th Feb - Day 5 - Safari
After Breakfast at NRE you’ll be picked up by your safari guides in their custom 4x4 safari trucks. 07:00am departure from Jinja. We'll stop at Kabalega diner for lunch then continue into the park. On our way through the park, we'll divert to take a look at the thundering top of Murchison Falls.

After lunch we’ll run down through Arrow and Kalagala Falls to finish at the vengeance wave where we can surf and attempt to catch the mysterious Phoenix wave.
We’ll then return to Adrift where we will decide on eating in the village or town.
9th Feb - Day 9 – Full run of the White Nile
After another Rolex breakfast, we’ll load the van and head out for another full river run for our last full day of paddling, running (and portaging) all the rapids on the mighty White Nile, we’ll stop on the river at some point for a packed lunch.
